Yankees recall OF Jasson Dominguez; DJ LeMahieu (hip) to IL

The New York Yankees recalled outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre amid a flurry of roster moves Monday ahead of their three-game home series against the Kansas City Royals.
The Yankees revealed that infielder DJ LeMahieu is dealing with a right hip impingement and will go on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Friday. Manager Aaron Boone told reporters that LeMahieu will undergo an MRI Monday and it is unclear if he will be able to play again this season.
New York also reinstated infielder Jon Berti from the 60-day IL and designated left-handed pitcher Anthony Misiewicz for assignment.
Dominguez will start in center field and bat sixth Monday against Kansas City.
The 21-year-old is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Yankees' organization and No. 16 overall prospect in the minor leagues, according to MLB Pipeline.
He made his major league debut in September 2023 and went 8-for-31 (.258) with four home runs and seven RBIs in eight games with New York. But Dominguez suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his throwing elbow, underwent Tommy John surgery and was shut down for the year.
The Yankees also recalled him as their 27th man for the Little League Classic game against the Detroit Tigers last month. Dominguez went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.
LeMahieu, 36, has played just one game in September as he continues to struggle at the plate. In 67 games this year, his sixth in New York, LeMahieu has batted a career-low .204 with two home runs and 26 RBIs. The former National League (2016, Colorado) and American League (2020) batting champ has split time between first and third base this year.
Berti, 34, joined the Yankees from the Miami Marlins in a three-team trade in March. He played in just 17 games and batted 15-for-55 (.273) with one homer and six RBIs before going on the IL in May with a left calf strain.
Misiewicz, 29, played in one game for the Yankees this year, throwing one scoreless inning June 19 against Baltimore. He is 8-9 with a 4.67 ERA across 131 relief appearances in his five-year major league career with Seattle (2020-22), Kansas City (2022), Arizona (2023), Detroit (2023) and the Yankees (2023-24).
