Rex Ryan Just Wants To Get Fired Already
Only the Jets could donk their way into annoying their head coach by not firing him. But according to a report from NJ.com, Ryan is righteously pissed that Jets owner Woody Johnson and doofus-turk Charley Casserly are shopping his and John Idzik's jobs without actually having fired them.
"Rex is livid right now," the person told NJ Advance Media this weekend. "He hasn't talked to Woody yet, but he wants to talk to him and say, 'Fire me [bleeping] today. Fire me whenever. I'm not going to hang around and miss out on [another job opportunity].'"
Ryan has already started clearing out his office, while the J ets official team website and propaganda depot has video up openly questioning whether Idzik will be fired. It seems clear that the two aren't wanted, that both will be put down once a new GM is in place, and that this is probably just the organization cockblocking Rex from taking a job somewhere else in the interim. Regardless, the outcomes are all hilarious. Either Rex plays out the year, is eventually fired, and carries a grudge against the franchise; or he's fired later today but only after letting a second-hand Rex-rant slip out of the Kremlin; or Johnson turns a full 180 degrees and decides to keep Ryan, which would just be wonderful. The Jets are the best thing going in Week 17.
