Great Moments in Confused Skydiving
The Tar Heels football program planned to kick off their season in style yesterday. UNC hired a pair of skydivers to descend from above and deliver the game ball prior to their match-up with McNeese State. Fans and organizers waited in breathless anticipation for their arrival. Only the skydivers never showed. Why? Because they mistakenly dropped into Duke's Wallace Wade Stadium eight miles down the road. Roll tape:
Seems the skydivers initially planned to call off the jump due to bad weather. But the clouds cleared, they saw a stadium, and they jumped...into the middle of Duke-VirginiaJames Madison pre-game warm-ups. The pair realized their mistake and scrambled off the field with the game ball, presumably evading the tackles of Duke's entire defensive unit. Somehow, some way, this is Mike Krzyzewski's fault.
