Chart: College Football Players By State
Using records from Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Football Study Hall has broken down the states of origin of every FBS recruit in the last six classes. The distribution is...top-heavy.
Texas, Florida and California are your unsurprising top three, followed by Georgia and Ohio. Together, the five account for 52.4 percent of the nation's recruits. Football is, essentially, a game for the South and the Midwest.
What's really interesting are the per capita rates—recruits compared with state populations. There, Louisiana and Alabama take the top two spots, and Hawaii sneaks into the top five.
