Mandatory Credit: Winslow Townson-Imagn Images Boston Bruins star forward David Pastrnak was deemed "unlikely to return" to Monday's game against the visiting Washington Capitals due to an upper-body injury.
It was unclear when or how Pastrnak was hurt. Pastrnak did not see the ice for much of the second period and did not return from the locker room for the third period before the team's announcement. The game was knotted 1-1 through two periods.
Pastrnak leads the Bruins in points (35) and assists (23) through the first 35 games of the season. The four-time All-Star won the 2019-20 Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy (shared with Washington's Alex Ovechkin) for leading the league in goals with 48.
Pastrnak has totaled 762 points (360 goals, 402 assists) through 710 career games since Boston selected him in the first round of the 2014 draft.
