The French Quarter in New Orleans -- which is basically the original French settlement -- is on the HIGHEST ground in the entire city (more or less). It's also (if I recall) one of the only districts in the entire city that's solidly on bedrock. The FQ was virtually undamaged by Katrina.

The beer+sports argument is bullshit. I've been plenty drunk and plenty obnoxious at sporting events, hell, I'm known for it. But you'll never catch me saying shit like that, and you'll never hear me cussing in front of kids or at players, or their families. And you'll never catch me saying shit like that about a natural disaster that killed thousands of people and left an entire city in ruins.

Bears fans- in the stands in the cold- middle class/blue collar guys who's only high light (they haven't found the joys of DS and KSK on line) of their year is every sunday when they get to leave their wives at home and root for the team that their dads and granddads rooted for.

That sign (as nasty as it is) is the product of 21 years of being shitted on by crap bear team after crap bear team.

And then once we finally made it to the NFL championship, we are not even given a shred of chance to win. Meaning that now every one else is shitting on us...

So was it in poor taste- yes.

Are we all assholes in that town- no.

Classless. And let's not pretend that this just started when Chicago teams finally started to win. I saw a 14-year old kid get pushed down the stairs in the upper deck of the United Center because he was wearing a Detroit Red Wings jersey. When was the last time the Blackhawks won anything?

Finally....here was a completely offensive article written in the Tribune before the game. It's one thing for an idiot fan to be an asshole, but a whole different world when a newspaper is printing shit like this.

Raiders fans spit and threw things at me (not just one... many). My father (a very docile person by nature) almost got in a fist fight trying to protect me. However, joke was on them in the end. Todd Marinovich was their QB that game.
