Yes, these tidbits suck. I'd've opted for the summer of '02 when the Red Wings were in the Stanley Cup Finals and there was an octopus-throwing competition held in the outfield at Comerica. Tigers pitcher Matt Anderson volunteered to toss a slimy sea creature -- then landed on the DL for the remainder of the season when he injured his arm. I never heard if Matt won the competition or what his octopus toss was clocked at on the radar ...

I don't hate nitpicking. Tigers didn't make the World Series in 1987. They lost to the Twins in the ALCS. I think it might be better to read "sniffed the playoffs".

Hate to nitpick, but umm... isn't that Kenny Rogers thing more of a Rangers tidbit? I mean, it seems like there's enough obsnure stuff about the Tigers that they wouldn't have to share Four Tiny Tidbits with the Rangers... like the whole "61* was filmed at Tiger Stadium," "Ernie Harwell's in the Hall of Fame," "They had a pitcher that talked to garbage"...
