Stephen A.'s Career Never Too Dismal For Heckling

Stephen A. Smith's career has fallen on hard times. He's been demoted from draft analyst to pick interviewer. Rising commodity prices have pushed Cheez Doodles above $3.15 a pound. Fortunately, the Stephen A. Smith Heckling Society of Gentlemen was at this year's draft, as they were in '06 and '07, to remind him there is no depth to which he can fall that they will not kick him a little further down. The Continued Downsizing Of Stephen A. Smith

This Thursday's NBA draft coverage on ESPN will not have Stephen A. Smith seated up front this year, instead they've relegated him to draftee-interviewing duties, an assignment the Miami Herald says, "he handled capably and calmly after the Celtics won the championship Tuesday." More »

Our first field trip ever for this here site was our trip to "Quite Frankly With Stephen A. Smith," back when it was on the air. This ended up causing a tiff in the pages of the Chicago Tribune, of all places. More »

Jay Mariotti Remains A Very Delicate Boy

You might remember back when Jay Mariotti, deeply hurt by critical remarks on Wikipedia, asking the site to take down those mean, mean words. You might have thought he had grown a thicker skin since then. You'd be wrong. More »

Stephen A. Smith won't be daunted by any of Bob Costas's comments: BTW……I co-hosted the Steve Harvey Morning Show today with the morning crew. It’s Freedom Friday, so, unfortunately, I had to give it to Nephew Tommy a little bit, who completely underestimated my skills with the slow jamz (Starship, Lady (Whispers), Adore and Call Me (Prince), Just to be close (Lionel Richie), etc. Shame on the brother! But I’m not going to hold it against him too much. When ya don’t know,…ya don’t know. (smile!!!) [stephenablog.typepad.com]

Fun With Stephen A. Smith Blog Comments

Our story so far: Stephen A. Smith started a blog, and then things got out of hand in the comments. So he heightened security; now requiring registration before one can comment. And that's a good thing, because now that all the jerks and racists are gone, all that remains is comedy gold. More »

Stephen A. Smith Imagines A Utopian Society Without Bloggers

It's the question that has plagued scientists for the better part of a decade: Is there life inside of Stephen A. Smith's head? It would be foolish to rule it out ... after all, life can take many forms, including the smallest of single-cell organisms. But as of now, NASA has no plans beyond sending in a tiny probe to collect rocks. Sadly, Stephen A.'s latest comments have not generated much enthusiasm for more elaborate missions.

In Part III of his interview with the Los Angeles Daily News' Tom Hoffarth, Stephen A. reveals how he would fix journalism: Prevent bloggers from "disseminating information." We understand that it originally had a laugh track.

"And when you look at the internet business, what's dangerous about it is that people who are clearly unqualified get to disseminate their piece to the masses. I respect the journalism industry, and the fact of the matter is ...someone with no training should not be allowed to have any kind of format whatsoever to disseminate to the masses to the level which they can. They are not trained. Not experts."
