Dissing Randy Moss, 68-Yard Field Goal Attempt, And NFL In 3D?
• Al Davis As You've Never Seen Him Before. Just when you thought you could barely stand these teams in two dimensions, the NFL has announced that the Dec. 4 game between the Chargers and Raiders will be broadcast live in 3D to theaters in Los Angeles, New York and Boston. The three screenings — for NFL and consumer electronics executives only — are a "preliminary step" toward what could be regular 3-D broadcasts throughout the NFL schedule. [Wall Street Journal]

Time To Party With The 49ers And Cardinals
Only a couple of hours or so until Leitch's Arizona Buzzsaw square off against my San Francisco Forty-Niners, and the big question remains: Who will be the first tonight to remove his pants inappropriately, Matt Leinart or Mike Singletary? Judging from the photo, Matt gets the presumptive nod, especially since our new 49ers coach has promised not to unbuckle for the remainder of the season. Hide your daughters, citizens of Glendale. NFL Season Preview: Arizona Cardinals
We're less than two weeks away from the start of the NFL season, so it's time to start the impassioned season previews from various writers, bloggers, diehard fans, cooks, TV personalities, and numerous other walks of life whom consider football the only sport worth watching.Today: The Buzzsaw That Is The Arizona Cardinals. Your author is Will Leitch.
Will Leitch is the founding editor of Deadspin and a contributing editor at New York Magazine. He also writes, improbably, for The Sporting News magazine. He has written three books, of which you own only one, if you own any at all.
His words are after the jump. More »

Matt Leinart Just Can't Figure This NFL Quarterback Thing Out Quite Yet
One of the most amusing parts of the whole "Costas Now" fiasco was when Cleveland Browns' wideout Braylon Edwards took the time to chime in (briefly) about his "take on blogs" and used the Matt Leinart post with Leitch's headline "Matt Leinart Is Taking His Offseason Film Work Quite Seriously" as his ammo. Edwards contention was that the assumption was unfair to Matt and that the quarterback's private backyard beer-bong parties really had no impact on how the man does his job. This could be entirely true and Leinart may very well have had every intention of securing his position as the savior of the Arizona franchise this season. But for some reason, he still can't get it done. More » -

Deadspin HOF Nominee: Matt Leinart
One particular joy this NFL offseason is to flip through the preseason guides and note all the references to the above Matt Leinart photo. Inevitably, it'll read something like, "Leinart had an offseason that pleased the ladies and the blogs more than it pleased the Cardinals coaching staff." I still think this is a rather epic photo; it even inspired a Jeopardy! question More » -

Pat Tillman's Mom Is Not Happy With The NFL
Like some of you I suspect, I hadn't read Dave Zirin's great Mary Tillman interview over at his blog, Edge of Sports, when it came out last week. But now he's adapted it as an opinion piece for the Los Angeles Times, and I highly recommend taking the time to give them both a look. In it, Mary Tillman accuses the NFL of exploiting her son, Pat Tillman, as much as the military did. And considering that the military initially tried to cover up Tillman's death by friendly fire in Afghanistan, that's a pretty strong statement. More » -

1st Round, Sixteenth Overall: Buzzsaw Selects Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
You better adjust the tracking on your VCR if you want to watch game tape of Rodgers-Cromartie. Tennessee State games are taped using the surveillance cameras at the Stop & Rob across the street. "The tape is not real clear. You have to find him. This reminds me of an older time in scouting," according to NFLN expert Charley Casserly.

Matt Leinart Is Just Asking For It Now
And once again our hero returns with an even more breathtaking lack of self-awareness. TheDirty.com comes through with another photograph that is sure to disappoint Cardinals' coach Ken Whisenhunt again. This time, possibly, forever. More » -
bong-slurping falls from grace (yes, this is duan)
Matt Leinart Should Just Grow Up Already
... So says annoyed Arizona Republic columnist Dan Bickley, who suggests that the Cardinals' quarterback of the present (and, "the future", allegedly) is just dancing a little bit too closely with Mr. Poonstone for his own taste. Bickley trots out every worst-case scenario Leinart should have considered (They could've driven home drunk and killed a family! They could've cried rape!) before he and his lurking 34-year-old wingman Nick Lachey house-partied with a gaggle of underage ponies. More »
